Flick a match into the forest
and fill this night with smoke
pushing worms from their Einstein Rosen bridges
hasten the machines that emit sludge
and clog the jet streams
continuing the scaled cracking of void river beds
streaking toward the ocean bottom
she screams loudly
and aches candidly
a door slams
concluding a long relationship
mother
So many nights darkened
staring at a phones numbers
one nudge away from calling
clumsily the universe claims her
before I found the courage
standing graveside
we never made peace.
Here we are as humanity.
Looking deep into night plumes of toxic light
fingers trembling on the dial tone
Knowing that a sincere apology will mean a contract
Our voices inflection echo the soft strength in our hearts
To tear down the smoke stacks piercing our sky
and hope earth doesn't die
before we make peace.
