Try Again

ghostly and large
He must be
to sweep across this city skyline
feet moving, punishing ground like concrete foundations
with no consequence
with no trace or sound
must be a ghost
from a distance we observe this giant
as it gathers pieces
fabric whirring around the city
plucked from mid air
the square shouldered monster constructs itself
stealing pieces from sky scraper corners
smudging color from smog infuzed sunsets
pilfering sentiment from opinionated coffee house poets
He makes an identity for himself
borrowed
He disappears...

Awake..
He suddenly breathes in new air
declares to never let his heart be broken
swears to keep his fingers pressed firmly to the cliff
this way no one can get their arms around him to hug
this way he can never fall
she insists
she flies a kite within his heart
she tucks a note in his pocket
whispers a word in his ear
follow

He gathers, and trails behind her
Dandelions rush in to fill the deadened grass where he laid
Sunflowers turn to collect the light
