Displacing the Ghost

it never gets cold
in this room
long after the curtains whither into space
a long spin of fabric
reveals a face
a harsh blizzard swarms the cube
deflected like ocean breaking
over boulder through
we keep the doors latched
we hold our letters dear
we are all pillars holding our hands high
raging fireflies
defeating the winters night
shivering light, frozen toes break
heart warm to touch
waves crash from a hazel eyed wake
we have eachother to thank
we have a summer to dance
we have
a promise to keep.
thermostat wires descending from attic
circuit breaker snaps
displaces the ghost
hiding under the sheet
still warmed
still welcoming
friends inside.
