This old house is haunted they tell me
and still
after many cold nights
carpets worn through from old torn shoes
I have yet to see
the ghost that haunts me
maybe
that ghost is me
invited to the formal party
I didn't bring a gift
slowly my spirit lifts
I know
I am the only ghost here.
